A Memorial Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, May 16, 2009 at Quattlebaum Funeral Home, 1201 South Olive Avenue, West Palm Beach, FL 33401, with Rev. Hallock Martin, Pastor of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, officiating. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, May 16, 2009 from 2:00 p.m. until the time of Service followed by a reception the National Croquet Center, 700 Florida Mango Rd West Palm Beach, FL 33406.

Susan McNeill Official Obituary

Susan E. McNeill
Susan E. McNeill, 68 years old, of West Palm Beach, FL, died on Thursday, May 7, 2009 following a month long struggle with post surgical Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome (A.R.D.S.). She was surrounded by her three sons, nephew and sister in her last hours. The daughter of John Douglas McCall and Alice Wayland McCall she was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Lansdowne, Delaware County, PA. Susan graduated from Lansdowne High School, Class of 1958, and the Presbyterian-University of PA Medical Center School of Nursing, Class of 1961. She was married to Dr. Samuel James McNeill, D.D.S. in 1963, and moved to the Palm Beach area in 1967.
A very accepting and kind person, everyone who knew Susan enjoyed her smile, wit, contagious laugh and sparkling blue eyes. Susan was an avid reader and passionate about all animals. She talked with great affection of her early years on the farm in Madison, Virginia, the many years of trips to Treasure Cay, Abaco, Bahamas with family and friends, and life in the Philadelphia and the Washington, DC, area. She cherished her travel experiences in France, Germany, the Galápagos Islands, and Ireland. She was quoted as saying that her 60th Birthday in Galway, Ireland with her family was the “best night of her life”. She was a loving caregiver who worked as a Registered Nurse at the Bethesda Memorial Hospital in Boynton Beach; over the years volunteered at Connors’s Nursery, the Caridad Clinic in Delray Beach, and the West Palm Beach Zoo. She was also a member of the PEO Chapter EZ, and the Lake Worth Racquet Club. She is survived by three sons, Jimmy McNeill of West Palm Beach, Andy McNeill (Todd Bludworth) of Fort Lauderdale, and Dale McNeill also of West Palm Beach; her sister, Waverly Shirreffs (John Shirreffs) of West Palm Beach; nephews, Jeffrey Hepler of Middletown, DE, and Matthew D. Hepler, M.D. of Vero Beach, FL; and many additional cousins, nieces, nephews, and caring friends.
